December 20 is Giving Day at Compass
December 20 each year is our annual Giving Day at the Compass School, a day when each student and staff member will present handmade gifts to the person in the community that they drew from a hat last month.
This is a cherished school tradition and generally a really wonderful day to end school before the holiday break.
As part of the Giving Day festivities, we will end school at 2:15pm, to allow students taking the Moover to ride the earlier bus. For students getting picked up, the school will be open with staff present until the usual 3:15pm dismissal time, but families have the option of picking up as early as 2:15.
We hope this change helps send everyone off to vacation in high spirits. Please contact me or Kendra with any questions.
Thank you,
Gabe

Update on today's weather & current road conditions
Due to the road conditions this rain is creating, I am writing to communicate that all students who ride the Moover will be put on the 2:15 pm bus.
For those who don't ride the bus, please feel welcome to pick up your children anytime -- at 3:15 pm the latest. Ron Bos-Lun, who lives near Compass, will stay until all are picked up.
As of right now, we are planning to continue as scheduled with the Presentations of Learning on Tue, Dec 19. Always, please be safe and decide if you wish to commute based on what is most considerate of your family's well-being.
Be well,
Kendra
CLOSED Monday, December 11 Due to Inclement Weather
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for the counties where the majority of our families and staff reside.
Airing on the side of caution due to this inclement weather in the region, the Compass School will not open tomorrow, Monday, December 11 and school is closed for students, teachers, and staff.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone again on Tuesday.
Kendra

Trimester Exhibition on Thursday (11/16)
This is a reminder that we are planning to display an exhibition of student work from the first trimester here at school on Thursday, 11/16 from 3:00-4:30pm. Families are invited to come by to view the work that students in all grades have chosen to display.
We are asking each student to share one piece of work or learning experience that they take pride in from this fall. This is an informal, gallery-style exhibit, so no need to RSVP, just show up and enjoy the variety of work and the chance to connect with teachers and other parents. We hope to see you on Thursday afternoon!

College Day for Grades 9-12
This Friday, 11/3 is our annual College Day for our high school students. The purpose of this annual tradition is to help students appreciate the many different options for continuing their education beyond high school.
Each year, we visit a different college or colleges to get a sense of their programming and campus life. This year, we will visit New England College, a small liberal arts school in Henniker, NH.
The schedule for the day will still be 8:25am to 3:15pm. After breakfast the bus will take the high school to New England College for an admissions presentation, walking tour, and lunch (provided by the college) before returning to Compass by the 3:15pm dismissal.
Middle school will operate as normal, students that day at Compass will have a mix of regular classes and a few fun opportunities.
Please contact me or Kendra with any questions. Many thanks!
